Mekong River 8 days

Experience life in the Mekong Delta on a 8 days tour from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap. Get breathtaking views of local temples, fruit plantations and typical stilt houses. Visit a floating market, and look for wildlife, such as tropical birds in a natural environment.

  • Day 1: Saigon Arrival

    Arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, we’ll go through the immigration & custom formalities and collect luggage ourselves. Coming out, we’ll be greeted and transferred to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is at own leisure.

  • Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels – Saigon City (B/L)

    This morning we travel out to the Cu Chi Tunnels in the lush green suburb of Saigon to explore the legendary underground combat tunnels from the two Indochina Wars. At its height, the tunnels stretched over 250 kilometers from Saigon to the Cambodian border and were three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapon factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens. Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of underground life in the wartime. In the afternoon, we return to town and visit the most outstanding sites such as the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Post Office, and the bustling Ben Thanh Market. Return to the hotel Overnight.

  • Day 3: Saigon – My Tho – Can Tho (B, L)

    Today we travel deep into Mekong Delta, a world that lives and works on the water - a photographer's paradise. We’ll explore the intricate waterways by sampan, visit family and workshops and fruit orchards, ride horse cart around, enjoy traditional delta musical. For a memorable lunch we’ll sample local delicacies like Elephant's Ear Fish, Rice Ball, and Spring Rolls… at a local home. Relax in the canopy of fruit trees before transfer to Can Tho where we take a spin around to experience the waterfront at Ninh Kieu Quay, bustling and exciting with Hau River life. Overnight in hotel.

  • Day 4: Can Tho - Chau Doc (B)

    Early morning, we take a boat-ride to visit the extraordinary river market of Cai Rang. Cai Rang is the largest on the complex of water-ways that comprise the Mekong Delta, a must see for all visitors to the region. The boat tour is capped off with a visit to My Khanh Village, a genuine Delta village that is typical of the region. Continue to Chau Doc near the Cambodia border and visit a floating village, where local people breed fish in cages for export. We also call in a village of Cham people and learn about this Vietnamese Islamic ethnic group. Overnight at hotel

  • Day 5: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh (B)

    We have early breakfast then transfer to the pier for a speedboat to Phnom Penh. The cruise is about 4.5 hours and affords a great chance to learn more about life on and along the mighty Mekong River. Bottled water and perfumed tissue are provided on board. Upon arrival at Phnom Penh, we’ll met up local guide in Phnom Penh and transferred to the city center for a short city tour including the notorious Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, the infamous Cheoung Ek Killing Field and the Central Market before a leisure walk along the riverside Sisowath Boulevard to conclude the day.

  • Day 6: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (B/D)

    This morning we pay a visit to the opulent Royal Palace with the dazzling Silver Pagoda, the flowery National Museum, the hilltop temple of Wat Phnom, and the central Independence Monument. In the afternoon, we’ll transfer to the airport for a short flight to Siem Reap. Greeted at Siem Reap airport by local guide and transferred to our hotel in city center for the night. This evening we’ll enjoy dinner with entertainment from Apsara dancers.

  • Day 7: Siem Reap (B/L)

    We start exploring the wonders left by a highly complex civilization. First, visit Angkor Thom – the last capital of the great Khmer Empire, taking in the sprawling Terraces of Elephant, the Leper King, the enchanting Bayon and the fascinating temple of Ta Prohm. Dedicate the rest of the day to the magnificent Angkor Wat, the largest and best-preserved of the Angkor temples. Watch magnificent sunset into the land of temples from Bakheng Hill or Pre Rup Temple.

  • Day 8: Siem Reap – Departure (B)

    We travel south towards the great lake of Tonle. Get on a boat and ride down the Kompong Phluk River and into the main village on the waters. Free at our own leisure till the time to transfer to the airport for our homebound flight.
