Trekking in the Northern Vietnam 8 days

This tour will take you to visit Ba Be Lake in Ba Be National Park where you can enjoy the rich natural surroundings and meet the local Tay communities. We also visit some of the most incredible sites in Northern Vietnam a wild and beautiful region full of limestone peaks, dizzying canyons, and limitless panoramas. You will get to discover the culture of the local minority.

  • Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

    Welcome at the airport upon arrival and transfer to hotel for check-in and tour briefing. Rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

  • Day 2: Hanoi City Tour (B)

    After breakfast at hotel, we will pay a visit to the memorial complex to Ho Chi Minh to know his amazing life. Continue to the Single Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature to gain understanding of the two driving forces in Vietnam culture. In the afternoon, we take a half day tour visiting the mystical Lake of Restored Sword and the Old Quarter of 36 guild streets from a rickshaw ride. The Old Quarter is a series of 36 ancient streets where peddlers still trade the way they have done for centuries. The rickshaw tour ends up at Ma May Old House, an example of dwellings in the 19 century. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 3: Hanoi – Ba Be National Park (B/L/D)

    On the first full morning in Vietnam, embark on a journey through the scenic countryside, bound for Ba Be National Park. The protected area lies about 230 kilometres north of Hanoi, but its rich biodiversity and unique limestone landscapes make it worth the journey. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way and finally arrive at the wild nature reserve.Take some time to relax and refresh before joining a boat ride on the park’s prominent Ba Be Lake. Located on top of a mountain, float along Vietnam’s largest natural lake and enter the 300-metre-long Puong Cave. Witness the uniquely shaped stalactites and clusters of bats adorning the gigantic tunnel before continuing to Dau Dang Waterfall – a succession of impressive cascades among sheer rock walls.

  • Day 4: Ba Be National Park Trekking (B/L/D)

    You will have the chance to explore the diverse and beautiful landscapes of Ba Be as you trek through the national park. To begin with, your local guide will take you to visit Coc Toc Village where the Tay people make a living through fishing in the lake. You will cross Pelu Stream and navigate some steep terrain, but as you gain height you will begin to see the beautiful views of the mountains. As you journey further towards the uplands, you will stop in a H'mong ethnic village where you will have a picnic lunch. Your guide will then take you through the vast mountain ranges and valleys to see the stilt houses and school of the Dzao people and along the trail to visit another H'mong ethnic village. You will then return to your homestay where you started this morning.

  • Day 5: Ba Be – Hoang Su Phi (B/L/D)

    Spend the day on the road and travel to Ha Giang Province. Located in the far north of Vietnam, soaring limestone mountains, cascading rice terraces and a snaking river form one of the country’s most spectacular landscapes. It’s one of Vietnam’s best-kept secrets and due to its distance from major cities, visitor numbers are kept low.  You will arrival at Thong Nguyen a commune of Hoang Su Phi district at the mid-afternoon. Arrive in Hoang Su Phi, check in Pan Hou Ecolodge and free time for relaxing.

  • Day 6: Trekking Thong Nguyen – Nam Hong Village (B/L/D)

    After the breakfast at lodge, you start trekking to Nam Hong Village (5 -6 hours) passing rice terrace fields, mountainous scenery, bamboo forests and houses of the hill tribes. The hill tribe group here is mainly Man Ta Pan and long-dress Dzao. Stop for a picnic lunch en route. Overnight at home stay in a Man Ta Pan or Dzao house.

  • Day 7: Trekking Nam Hong – Phin Ho (B/L/D)

    Today embark on a 5 -6 hour trek to the local hilltribe village of Phin Ho, an area known for its special herbal teas. Lunch at a Red Dao hilltribe village in Giang and learn about the local culture. Continue through lush valleys, passing remote villages and hilltribes en route to Phin Ho Village. The car pick you up and transfer you back to Pan Hou Village for overnight.

  • Day 8: Hoang Su Phi – Hanoi - Departure (B)

    Breakfast at the lodge, free time for relaxing before the return drive to Hanoi. Enroute back to the capital enjoy a Vietnamese lunch in a local restaurant. Arrive back in Hanoi late afternoon. Transfer directly to the airport for departure or connection to another destination.
